Senior Bridge Engineer - Rochester/Buffalo, NY

CPL (Clark Patterson Lee)

CPL is currently seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our growing team in our Rochester or Buffalo, NY offices. The successful candidate will plan and oversee NYSDOT Bridge Design and other related projects. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Prepares and designs plans for new and/or rehabilitated bridge systems or parts of systems

  • Ensures conformity to engineering standards and practices by reviewing construction plans, calculations for designs, and cost estimators

  • Evaluates plans and proposals by other engineers; makes modifications as needed

  • Assists the Project Manager in the preparation of budgets, schedules, or specifications for labor or materials for each project

  • Estimates costs for bridge/transportation projects

  • Collaborates with contractors, utility companies, and/or government agencies concerning plans, work schedules, or specifications

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • At least 15 years of experience in NYSDOT Bridge Design

  • NYS Licensed Professional Engineer

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough understanding of Bridge engineering

  • Thorough understanding of mathematics

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit continuously

  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level

  • Ability to twist/turn upper body

  • Able to use hands/arm repetitive action for fine manipulating, keyboarding, and typing

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds

  • Ability to work in hot and cold weather conditions
