Stream Erosion and Slope Stability along Cattaraugus Creek

Lallman Rambali, PE, NYSDOT Regional Hydraulics Engineer

Lallman Rambali will speak on stream erosion along Cattaraugus Creek that has caused Bridge Safety Concerns at NY Route 16 Over Cattaraugus Creek and Mass Slope failure along NY Route 39 at Hake Road Intersection. NYS DOT has installed corrective measures at both locations to arrest these deficiencies using: Structural Armoring of the Stream banks, Re-directive methods, and Bio-Engineering.

Speaker Bio

Mr. Lallman Rambali is a licensed professional engineer with extensive experience in water resources and river hydraulics. He has served as Regional Hydraulics Engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in Buffalo, NY for 23 years. In that role, Mr. Rambali performs detailed hydraulic analyses for all of NYSDOT Region 5's bridge and culvert replacement projects to determine hydraulic adequacy and scour susceptibility of existing structures and the recommendation for replacement structures. In addition, he is responsible for the Diving Inspection, Hydraulic Vulnerability Assessment, Flood Watch and Post Flood Inspection programs. He is certified as a bridge inspector and designs emergency repairs when necessary.
